SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech men's golf team is ready to compete in The Carolina Cup at The Carolina Country Club, hosted by USC Upstate in Spartanburg, S.C., Sept. 28-30.
The Golden Eagles are fresh off last week's third-place finish at the Grover Page Classic. Highlighting that finish was an individual win by Haden Maxwell, marking the second win of his collegiate career after posting rounds of 70 (1st), 65 (2nd), 67 (3rd). Maxwell's 65 in the second 18 holes was a career low round for the senior. Tech collectively carded 19-under to finish third in the event, finishing above Murray State (-17), Bellarmine (-15), and SIU Edwardsville (-15) to round out the top five.
"After a strong start to the fall, we are excited to continue this momentum at the Carolina Cup, said Head Coach Polk Brown. "The course has been a great challenge for our players in previous years, and we look forward to putting our games to the test once more in Spartanburg."
Nick Etherton turned in a solid performance at The Grover Page Classic as well, recording rounds of 70 (1st), 70 (2nd), and 68 (3rd) for a five under 54 holes ending in 13th. Drew Bolton shot three under to finish 23rd.
