COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's golfer Nick Etherton has been named Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Male Golfer of the Week, as announced today by the conference.
Etherton tied for 11th with a seven-under score after recording rounds of 67 (Rd 1), 71 (Rd 2), and 71 (Rd 3) in the Golfweek Fall Challenge at True Blue Golf Course in Pawleys Island, S.C. The first-round 67 was the lowest round of his collegiate career and helped him vie for the Top 10 throughout the tournament. This is the first Golfer of the Week honor for Etherton after transferring from Chattanooga before his senior season.
The senior from Friendsville, Tenn., helped the Golden Eagles get off to a flying start with a first-round 67 (-5), putting the team tied for third after 18 holes. Etherton was tied for second with his five-under performance after the opening round. He made six birdies in the first 18, including five birdies in the first nine holes. Etherton then shot one under for the next two rounds with identical scores of 71.
After leading early and sitting in second through two rounds, Tennessee Tech dropped four spots on the final day to finish tied for sixth with Central Arkansas at 12 under.
