Golden Eagles Fly to Second on Day 2 of Golfweek Fall Challenge
Tennessee Tech men's golf shoots a seven-under second round and sits in second at 16 under following the conclusion of Round 2 of the Golfweek Fall Challenge at True Blue Golf Course in Pawley's Island, S.C.

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Tennessee Tech men's golf shoots a seven-under second round and sits in second at 16 under following the conclusion of Round 2 of the Golfweek Fall Challenge at True Blue Golf Course in Pawley's Island, S.C.
The Golden Eagles posted a seven under 281 during the second 18 of action in the Golfweek Fall Challenge. Tech finished 16 under (281) and moved up one spot from third to second.
Tennessee Tech has shot 23 under on par fives, leading the competition and averaging 4.54 shots per hole. The Golden Eagles are tied for second with 43 birdies through two rounds, trailing Georgia Southern by one (44).
Round 2 Notes:
- Cooper Gettler (Fr.) had an outstanding round, shooting five under 67 (-7, T-4th) with eight birdies, including five birdies and four pars on the back nine.
- Nick Etherton put together another solid 18 holes on Day 2, with four birdies and shooting a 71 for a one under to sit in sixth at six under (-6, T-6th) for the tournament.
- Haden Maxwell shot three under (69) today to climb into the top 15 at four under (-4, t-13th).

Alex Broyles shot one over today for a two over score through two rounds of action (+2, T-43).
- Drew Bolton posted a six over 76 to complete day two at seven over and tied for 67th.
Competing as an individual, Matthew Shull shot an even par 72 today to sit at one under for the tournament and tied for 32nd.
Gettler leads all golfers with a seven under on par fives, averaging 4.30 strokes on those holes. He made 11 birdies, which tied for third in the field. Maxwell and Etherton are tied for fourth with 10 birdies through two rounds.
NEXT UP: The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles play the third and final round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Tuesday. The final round of action gets underway on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. CT.
