COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech senior men's golfer Haden Maxwell has earned Ohio Valley Conference Male Golfer of the Week for the second time, as announced today by the Conference.
Haden Maxwell earns OVC Golfer of the Week for the second time this season after shooting four under (68) during the final day of The Carolina Cup on his way to his second consecutive win. It is the first time since the 2005-06 season (Scott Stallings) that a Golden Eagle men's golfer has won back-to-back tournaments. Maxwell has earned three wins in his collegiate career, two this season.
This is the fourth OVC Golfer of the Week honor of Maxwell's collegiate career.
Maxwell recorded rounds of 71 (R1), 73 (R2), and 68 (R3) for a total of 212, finishing two shots in front of Samford's Jack Mikesell (-2). Kieran McCarthy of Radford was -2 heading into the final hole, needing an eagle to force a playoff, but he bogeyed to finish -1 and fall three shots shy in third.
It is the first time since 2005-06 that a Golden Eagle golfer has won back-to-back tournaments during a season.
