MARTIN, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech Baseball opens a three-game series at UT Martin on Friday at 5 p.m. CT. The Golden Eagles look to capture momentum from a Tuesday 7-5 win over Austin Peay. The series will be available on UT Martin radio only (90.3 – WUTM).
SERIES PREVIEW
The Golden Eagles travel to UT Martin for a three-game OVC series on the road. Tech looks to bounce back from a 1-8 conference start and is currently 2-12 on the road. UT Martin enters the series 16-16 overall and 3-6 in the OVC. The Skyhawks are 13-7 at home but were swept in their most recent conference series by Morehead State.

LAST GAME (4/7 vs. Austin Peay)
Tennessee Tech used a balanced offensive effort and a deep pitching staff to earn a 7-5 victory over Austin Peay Tuesday evening at Quillen Field at Bush Stadium at the Averitt Express Baseball Complex. The Golden Eagles (11-22, 1-8 OVC) tallied 12 hits on the night and scored in four different innings to fend off the Governors (16-17, 7-5 ASUN). Tech wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. In the bottom of the first inning, Owen Lee opened the rally with a double before Jorsixt Jimenez delivered an RBI triple to left field to plate the game's first run. Connor Crowson followed with an RBI groundout, giving the Golden Eagles a quick 2-0 advantage.
Austin Peay trimmed the deficit in the second, but Tech answered immediately in the bottom half of the inning. AJ Marchetti singled to right and later scored on a wild pitch before Jackson Rooker lined an RBI double down the left-field line to extend the Golden Eagle lead to 4-1.
The Governors pushed ahead briefly after scoring four runs across the third and fourth innings, but Tech reclaimed control in the sixth. Jimenez sparked the frame with a single and eventually came home on an RBI base hit by Manny Garza to tie the game.
Tech delivered the decisive blow in the eighth inning. Eddie Garza opened the frame with a triple to deep center field before Landon Smelser reached on a fielder's choice. Rooker followed with an RBI single through the right side to score Smelser, and Lee added a sacrifice fly to bring home Marchetti for the eventual 7-5 margin.
GOLDEN LEADERS
Jorsixt Jimenez leads the OVC in slugging percentage (.757), OPS (1.171), RBI (41), and is second in triples (4) and home runs (11). Connor Crowson is tied for first in the conference with 24 walks. Crowson and Crowell are tied for first in the OVC in fielding percentage (1.000). Owen Lee is third in the conference in assists (89) and tied for fifth in double plays (16). Jaxson Pease is tied for third in the conference in wins (4).
WATCH LISTS
Catcher Manny Garza was selected to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List on Wednesday, Apr. 1 (2nd time). SS Owen Lee was named to the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List, which honors the nation's best SS. Lee earns this selection for the first time in his career.
