COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech found some bright spots offensively Friday night, but a pair of big innings from Little Rock proved to be the difference in a 12-4 decision at Bush Stadium.
The Golden Eagles (9-13, 0-1 OVC) showcased timely power, highlighted by home runs from Jorsixt Jimenez and Manny Garza. Little Rock improves to 12-10 overall and 1-0 in conference play with the win.
Jimenez put Tech on the board in the fourth inning with his team-leading seventh long ball of the season, while Garza delivered the biggest swing of the night for the purple and gold—a three-run blast in the sixth that cut into the deficit and energized the home dugout.
Tech's sixth-inning surge demonstrated the club's ability to respond, as Owen Lee sparked the rally with a double before Jimenez followed with a single to set the table for Garza's 400-foot shot to center.
Jimenez paced the Golden Eagles with a 2-for-4 performance, scoring twice and driving in a run, while Garza accounted for three RBIs on his lone hit of the evening. Lee also contributed with a double and a run scored as part of Tech's six-hit effort.
On the mound, Carson Davis provided a steady outing in relief, tossing two scoreless innings to help stabilize things in the middle frames.
Little Rock (12-10, 1-0 OVC) used a three-run second inning and a five-run fourth to build separation, totaling 15 hits on the night.
Despite the result, the Golden Eagles continued to show resilience at the plate, producing multiple extra-base hits and capitalizing on key opportunities, including two-out production from Garza in the sixth.
