EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — Tennessee Tech used the long ball and a steady effort on the mound to highlight a competitive showing in a 6-2 setback at SIUE on Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles (9-19, 0-6 OVC) accounted for their offense with a pair of solo home runs, as Nash Crowell launched his second of the season in the second inning to even the score early. Jorsixt Jimenez added his team-leading 11th homer of the year in the sixth, continuing his strong offensive stretch and cutting into the deficit.
Tech's pitching staff also turned in a solid stretch in the middle innings, combining for three consecutive scoreless frames to keep the Golden Eagles within striking distance. Reliever Reece McDuffie helped anchor that effort out of the bullpen, limiting damage and giving the offense opportunities to respond late.
Despite the final score, Tennessee Tech collected six hits and showed resilience throughout, including early momentum from Crowell's blast and continued pressure sparked by Jimenez's power.
SIUE capitalized on key extra-base hits to build its lead, but the Golden Eagles' bullpen effort and timely swings provided encouraging signs heading into the next contest.
