Tech Baseball Stumbles in Game Two Against Eastern Illinois
Tennessee Tech ran into an early deficit and could not recover Saturday afternoon, falling to Eastern Illinois, 13-1, in Ohio Valley Conference action at Quillen Field at Bush Stadium.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech ran into an early deficit and could not recover Saturday afternoon, falling to Eastern Illinois, 13-1, in Ohio Valley Conference action at Quillen Field at Bush Stadium.
Eastern Illinois struck quickly, using a two-run home run in the opening inning to take control, and never looked back. The Panthers added two more runs in the second and broke the game open with a five-run fifth inning, finishing the day with 13 runs on 15 hits.
The Golden Eagles (10-21, 1-7 OVC) were limited offensively but found a bright spot in the seventh inning, when AJ Marchetti delivered a solo home run to account for Tech's lone run of the contest.
Tennessee Tech managed four hits on the day, with Jackson Rooker, Owen Lee, Manny Garza, and Marchetti each recording one.
On the mound, Garrett Holpuch was tagged with the loss after allowing four runs in the opening frames. The Golden Eagles' bullpen saw action from Cooper Casteel, Eli Huddleston, and Braxton Lewis, combining to cover the remainder of the contest.
Eastern Illinois' Bryce Riggs earned the win, holding Tech scoreless into the later innings while allowing just three hits across six innings of work.
Despite the setback, the Golden Eagles will look to regroup quickly with the series on the line.
