COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech shortstop Owen Lee has been named to the Brooks Wallace Player of the Year Award Watch List, which honors the nation's best shortstop, as announced today by the award.
Owen Lee joins one of 100 shortstops nationwide added to the early-season Watch List for the Brooks Wallace Award. Lee has gotten off to a solid start, launching three home runs to tie for the team lead and driving in eight runs for second on the team. He's slugging .524 and reaching base at a .367 clip with six walks. Lee has a 95.9 fielding percentage with a team-leading 34 assists and seven double plays turned.

The redshirt sophomore from Trenton, Tennessee, led off the season with a three-run homer at No. 25 Texas A&M to keep the Golden Eagles in the game. In two seasons with the Golden Eagles, Lee has driven in 45 runs, hit 12 home runs, 10 doubles, and slugged .447 with a .368 on-base percentage.
The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.
