Jimenez earns share of OVC Player of the Week honor
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jorsixt Jimenez had an incredible week for the Tennessee Tech baseball team and was recognized for his efforts on Monday as he was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s co-Player of the Week. Jimenez batted a scorching .588 for the week, collecting 10 hits in 17 at-bats, as he also drove in nine runs and scored eight times. The senior outfielder from Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic also had two doubles and two home runs among his tally, while also stealing two bases.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Jorsixt Jimenez had an incredible week for the Tennessee Tech baseball team and was recognized for his efforts on Monday as he was named the Ohio Valley Conference's co-Player of the Week.
Jimenez batted a scorching .588 for the week, collecting 10 hits in 17 at-bats, as he also drove in nine runs and scored eight times. The senior outfielder from Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic also had two doubles and two home runs among his tally, while also stealing two bases.
Against Lipscomb in the 15-5 seven-inning victory last week, Jimenez was 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and three runs scored. He kept the hot hitting going in the series opener against Southern Indiana as he was 3-for-4 batting with two RBI and three runs scored. He went yard in the second and third games as he was 2-for-5 with a three-run blast in game two, then went 3-for-5 in the rubber game with a two-run shot, two runs scored and a stolen base.
Jimenez, for the season, is batting .407 with 66 RBI and 52 runs scored, while also posting 15 doubles, four triples and 19 home runs. Jimenez is currently second in the OVC in batting average, second in home runs, first in RBI and fourth in runs scored.
This is the second Player of the Week honor of the season for Jimenez.
The Tech standout shared the conference honor with UT Martin senior outfielder T.J. Grines, who set a new OVC and UTM single-game record for stolen bases with six against Western Illinois. He hit .474 on the week with eight runs scored, a double, two home runs, seven RBI and seven stolen bases.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday as they head to St. Charles, Mo., for their penultimate conference series of the season at Lindenwood.
