Tech tennis opens Horizon League play with Tuesday match at Southern Indiana
Horizon League play has arrived for the Tennessee Tech tennis team as the Golden Eagles will flock to Southern Indiana on Tuesday for the first of six conference contests this spring.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Horizon League play has arrived for the Tennessee Tech tennis team as the Golden Eagles will flock to Southern Indiana on Tuesday for the first of six conference contests this spring. First serve in the league opener from Evansville is set for 2 p.m. CT.
A look at Tennessee Tech
The Golden Eagles (6-6) go to USI for the start of conference play with momentum in their back pocket, having won six of the last eight matches. Tech's last two tangles were both road victories, behind a 4-0 triumph at Alabama A&M and a 6-1 nod at Coastal Alabama on Mar. 20.
Oliver Dao, Diego Munoz, Murilo Burckhardt, Ricard Garavi Yepez and Christian Capuccini all tallied singles wins in the decision over the Coyotes in Friday's match at Coastal.
Alex Alvarez and Davids Spaks still lead the Golden Eagles with five solo victories apiece. Munoz and Burckhardt have each picked up four nods.
As far as doubles play is concerned, the Tech tandems of Alvarez and Spaks, as well as Munoz and Burckhardt have each posted a team-leading 6-4 mark.
The Golden Eagles were picked to finish in second in the Horizon League South Division. Belmont was chosen to win the South, while Cleveland State was tabbed to claim the North Division for the third-straight season.
A look at Southern Indiana
The Screaming Eagles (4-8) host Tech on the heels of a four-match slide that has seen the club fall at Butler, twice at No. 27 Kentucky, and a loss at No. 43 Middle Tennessee. Southern Indiana's last victory was a 4-1 win over Saint Louis on Mar. 6 in the squad's last home affair.
Aaron Dawson leads the team with a 6-3 singles record, doing all of his damage out of the No. 2 spot in the lineup. Mathys Bove and Jy Hibbert have each secured four solo nods this spring.
Bove and Adam Koon have combined to from USI's most formidable doubles duo with a 5-4 overall mark, playing exclusively out of the No. 3 position.
The Screaming Eagles were picked to finish in fourth place in the Horizon League South Division. The program posted a 2-2 league ledger in 2025.
Inside the series
Tuesday's tussle will mark the fourth meeting in the all-time series. The Golden Eagles hold a 2-1 edge, but did fall in the last get-together with a narrow 4-3 loss on Apr. 5, 2025 in Cookeville.
