Tech Men’s and Women’s Golf Picked to Finish Third in OVC; Griffith, Maxwell Named Players to Watch
Tennessee Tech men’s and women’s golf have been selected to finish third in the OVC, as announced today by the conference.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's and women's golf have been selected to finish third in the OVC, as announced today by the conference.
Tech men's and women's golf teams were picked to finish third in the OVC. Women's golf received 48 points, and men's golf received 81 points in a vote among league head coaches. Chloe Griffith and Haden Maxwell were selected Players to Watch among the conference.
Griffith led the Golden Eagles with a 74.5 average in the fall. She posted a three over following 15 rounds. Griffith finished in the Top 10 three times and the Top 20 three times, and notched a low round of 70 during the fall season.
Maxwell paced the Golden Eagles with a 69.7 average score and finished in the Top 5 four times with four Top 10 finishes and five Top 20 finishes. Maxwell posted a team-best 65 twice, both in the second rounds at The Grover Page Classic (9/15-9/16) and at The Xavier Invitational (10/20-10/21). He earned two Golfer of the Month and Golfer of the Week four times during the fall season.
On the men's side, Little Rock picked up eight of the 11 first-place votes and 98 points in being picked for the fourth year in a row. UT Martin received two first-place votes and 85 points in being predicted second, Tennessee Tech was third (81), and SIUE received the final first-place vote and was tabbed fourth (77 points). Morehead State was picked fifth (68) and followed by Lindenwood (55), Southern Indiana (44), Bryant (32), Eastern Illinois (29), Tennessee State (19), and Western Illinois (16).
Defending women's champion Morehead State picked up seven of nine first-place votes and 63 points in being picked first. Little Rock picked up the other two first-place votes and 57 points in being tabbed second. Tennessee Tech was predicted third (48 points) and followed by Lindenwood (43), Southern Indiana (35), Bryant (27), Eastern Illinois (26), Tennessee State (13), and Western Illinois (12).
Each OVC Golf Championship will be contested at a first-time venue this season. The OVC Women's Golf Championship will be contested April 19-21 at the Dalton Golf and Country Club in Dalton, Georgia, while the OVC Men's Golf Championship will be April 26-29 on the Ackerman-Allen Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on the campus of Purdue University.
In addition to the preseason poll, each league head coach selected one player from their team to be included as a "Player to Watch" heading into the spring season.
