PADUCAH, Ky – Tennessee Tech women's golf looks to build off its second-place finish in the Total Athlete Collegiate last week in The Velvet Invitational at Country Club of Paducah, hosted by Murray State on Monday.
The Golden Eagles are coming off a second-place finish in the Total Athlete Collegiate hosted by Murray State at the Country Club of North. In that event, Kaydi Rhodes led all golfers with a six-over final score to tie for sixth. Chloe Griffith was second on the team with a seven-over final tally to tie for ninth, and Kailey Lane finished tied for ninth with a seven-over as well. Tech was the only team with three Top 10 finishers in the Total Athlete Collegiate.
"The ladies started off very strong last week in our 36-hole day, which was great to see. We came in with a great mindset on the last day, just need to make some cleanups with our up/downs and finishing holes. This team has some great potential and momentum heading up to Paducah. The course is slightly more challenging than the last, but it will narrow up our focus and benefit us in the long run." – Head Coach Amanda Smith.
The team looks to finish atop a leaderboard that will include hosts Murray State, Alabama State, Univ. of North Carolina Asheville, Loyola Chicago, Southern Indiana, UAB, Southern Illinois, University of the Cumberlands, Troy, Indian Hills CC, West Georgia, Tennessee State, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, and Austin Peay.
