Tech earns four All-OVC softball selections
PEORIA, Ill. – The Tennessee Tech softball team opened its day in Peoria with some hardware as the Golden Eagles picked up four All-Ohio Valley Conference honors on Tuesday. Designated player Sofia Carroll earned a first-team spot, while third baseman Jailynn Paderez, second baseman Ashley Capelouto and utility Abbee Klinefelter were all named to the second-team roster.

PEORIA, Ill. – The Tennessee Tech softball team opened its day in Peoria with some hardware as the Golden Eagles picked up four All-Ohio Valley Conference honors on Tuesday.
Designated player Sofia Carroll earned a first-team spot, while third baseman Jailynn Paderez, second baseman Ashley Capelouto as an at-large selection and utility Abbee Klinefelter were all named to the second-team roster.
Carroll batted .315, driving in 22 runs and scoring 31 times. She had 10 doubles, a triple and two home runs during the regular season, while also stealing three bases. Over the course of the campaign, Carroll had 10 multi-hit games, six multiple RBI games and 11 multiple run games. She was a clutch batter, hitting .600 with eight RBI with the bases loaded, while also hitting .435 with 14 RBI with runners in scoring position.
Paderez led the Golden Eagles and was among the tops in the conference in hitting as she batted .372 for the season, driving in 28 runs with five doubles and three home runs, scoring 19 runs herself. Paderez ranks 132nd nationally and first in the conference in on-base percentage, while also ranking 116th in the country and second in the OVC in walks per game.
A clutch hitter, Paderez batted .526 with two home runs and 13 RBI with runners on and two out, as well as .615 with a home run and 11 RBI with runners in scoring position and two down. Paderez has 12 multi-hit games, six multiple RBI games and had a 20-game streak for reaching base.
Capelouto batted .344 for the season and led the Golden Eagles in run production as she drove in 39 runs and scored 25 times, pelting 12 doubles, a triple and eight home runs. She had 14 multi-hit games, nine multiple RBI games and five multiple run games.
She batted .407 this season with four home runs and 23 RBI with runners on, .444 with two home runs and 13 RBI with runners in scoring position and two out, and .500 with a home run and six RBI with the bases loaded.
Klinefelter batted .287 on the season, driving in 18 runs with six doubles and a home run, while scoring 11 times. The team-leader in putouts, Klinefelter finished the regular season with a .990 fielding percentage.
She ended the campaign with 10 multi-hit games and three multiple RBI games. She also hit .417 in league play with 11 RBI with runners on and the same mark with four RBI with runners on and two out. She hit .400 with four RBI with runners in scoring position and two down, while also hitting .333 with six RBI and a home run with the bases loaded.
The Golden Eagles open the Ohio Valley Conference Softball Championships on Wednesday morning as they take on Southern Indiana at 10 AM from the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex in Peoria.
