BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – With the start of the Tennessee Tech softball season just a week away, the Golden Eagles claimed two spots on the league's Players to Watch list.
Junior pitcher Emily York and redshirt junior outfielder Olivia Evans represented Tech on the team after putting together solid performances in the 2025 campaign.
Evans, a Hillsboro, Tenn., product led the team in batting with a .331 average last season, collecting 45 total hits in 136 at-bats, driving in 13 with 30 runs scored. She stole 14 bases on 15 attempts with a team-best 11 sacrifice hits.
York, a Normal, Ill., native, led the team with 11 wins in the circle, posting a 3.34 earned run average with a team-best 89 strikeouts and opponents hitting .299 against her. The workhorse of the staff, York threw 138 1/3 innings for Tech as the Golden Eagles.
Tech was projected to finish sixth in the OVC in 2026. The Golden Eagles finished 21-35 last season with an 11-16 mark in league play. Tech won two games in the conference tournament, defeating Tennessee State and Southern Indiana.
The Golden Eagles open the slate next week as they travel to Buies Creek, N.C., to take on Howard, Florida A&M and host Campbell. Tech opens home and OVC play on March 7 with SIUE in a three-game set.
