SEMO takes doubleheader vs. Tech softball
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri took advantage of a five-run inning in game one, but the Tennessee Tech softball team held the Redhawks scoreless for eight innings in game two before SEMO walked off the second contest to take both games in Friday’s doubleheader. The Golden Eagles (16-32, 11-15 Ohio Valley Conference) will close out the regular season on Saturday with a final game against the Redhawks. With a win Saturday, Tech will hold on to the No. 6 seed in next week’s OVC Softball Championships in Peoria. If Tech loses and Southern Indiana defeats UT Martin Saturday, the Golden Eagles will slip to seventh, but can not finish any lower.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – Southeast Missouri took advantage of a five-run inning in game one, but the Tennessee Tech softball team held the Redhawks scoreless for eight innings in game two before SEMO walked off the second contest to take both games in Friday's doubleheader.
The Golden Eagles (16-32, 11-15 Ohio Valley Conference) will close out the regular season on Saturday with a final game against the Redhawks. With a win Saturday, Tech will hold on to the No. 6 seed in next week's OVC Softball Championships in Peoria. If Tech loses and Southern Indiana defeats UT Martin Saturday, the Golden Eagles will slip to seventh, but can not finish any lower.
In game one, Addison Abell took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits in the first 1 2/3 innings, striking out one. Faith Rush worked the next 3 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Hannah Lange threw the final two-thirds, walking one and striking out one.
Their counterpart, Maddie Carney, went the distance, allowing two runs on four hits, walking three and striking out one.
Aubrey Shore had the big blast in the bottom of the second, knocking a three-run home run over the left field wall to break the game open. SEMO scored two runs in the bottom of the first with a fielder's choice and a sacrifice fly.
Tech tied the game in the bottom of the second as Makayli Harris drove in Ashley Capelouto with a single to right, then a fielder's choice allowed Abbee Klinefelter to score.
SEMO broke the tie in the second with a runner scoring on a wild pitch, then an RBI single before Shore went yard to make it 7-2 through two. The Redhawks scored on an RBI single in the fourth, then on a grounder in the fifth.
Sofia Carroll, Capelouto, Klinefelter and Harris had Tech's only hits in the game, while Olivia Evans, Jailynn Paderez and Ella Bishop drew free passes.
Tech was held to two hits in the nightcap with Alina Schlageter and Bishop getting base knocks.
Emily York threw from start to finish, going 8 2/3 innings before the Redhawks walked the game off in the bottom of the ninth. York yielded an unearned run on seven hits, walking two and striking out four.
Elliott Stinson went the first 6 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and a walk while striking out eight. Willow Van Haren claimed the win as she pitched the final 2 1/3, allowing just one walk and striking out three.
SEMO got a lead-off single, then moved the runner over on a sacrifice bunt. The game ended when Lily Delmain hit a single to left, but the ball was misplayed, allowing Mary Tutwiler to score from second to clinch the win.
