EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Tennessee Tech men's basketball looks to bounce back from a pair of losses with a matchup at Southern Indiana on Saturday at 4 p.m. CT. Watch the game on ESPN+ and listen on 106.1 The Eagle.
The Golden Eagles fell to Morehead State, 73-66, to open the penultimate road trip of the regular season. Tech slips to 10-16 overall and 5-10 in OVC play with the loss. Most recently, Southern Indiana lost to Tennessee State 73-71, dropping its third game in a row on Thursday.
Tech has lost two in a row after tying a season-high three-game winning streak with victories over Little Rock (W, 87-77), Tennessee State (W, 90-85), and Western Illinois (W, 97-72). Since scoring greater than 85 points in three straight games, the Golden Eagles have notched just 54 points in a loss to Eastern Illinois (L, 54-60) and 66 at Morehead State (L, 66-73).

LAST GAME
Tennessee Tech erased a 20-point second-half deficit and cut the margin to six in the final minute, but could not complete the comeback in a 73-66 loss to Morehead State on Thursday night at Johnson Arena.
Malik Ferguson led Tech (10-16, 5-10 OVC) with 15 points off the bench, while Ja'Quavian Florence added 11 and Dani Pounds and Jacobe Whitted chipped in 10 apiece. The Golden Eagles scored 44 points in the second half after managing just 22 before the break. TTU struggled to find its rhythm early, missing its first 12 3-point attempts and shooting 31.3% in the opening half. Morehead State capitalized with a 9-0 run midway through the period and built a 34-22 halftime advantage behind efficient shooting and strong work on the glass.
OVC STANDINGS
Tech is ninth in the OVC with a 5-10 conference record, with the top eight making the OVC Tournament. The Golden Eagles trail the 8 seed Eastern Illinois (10-16 overall, 6-9 OVC) with five games remaining in the regular season.
GOLDEN LEADERS
The Golden Eagles are 5th in the OVC in field goal percentage, shooting 44.8 percent (678-1512) from the field as a squad. Tech is 4th in the conference in team three-point field goal percentage, shooting 32.5 percent (187-575) from three for the season. TTU is third in the conference in made three-pointers (187), averaging 7.2 per game. The Golden Eagles are second in the OVC in free-throw percentage, shooting 74.3 percent (391-526) from the line. Mekhi Cameron leads the team in scoring, averaging 11.3 points per game, which is 21st in the OVC. JaJuan Nicholls is on pace to lead the conference in field goal percentage, shooting a conference-best 63.8 percent this season. Ty Owens is sixth among conference foes in assists with 97 total, averaging 3.7 per game.
Malik Ferguson scored a season-high 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including 2-of-3 from three, and 3-of-5 from the line in the defeat at Morehead State on Thursday.

OPPONENT NOTES
Currently sitting in 10th in the OVC, the Screaming Eagles (5-19, 2-12 OVC) are looking to snap a cold streak and attempt to climb back into position to make a trip to the OVC Championship. USI needs to make up a four-game deficit in the six games remaining on the OVC calendar.
For the season, senior guard Ismail Habib has been posting 15.7 points per game to lead USI in scoring. Brown is second with 14.1 points per outing, while senior guard Cardell Bailey is third on the team in scoring with 13.1 points per contest this season.
