Tech and Lipscomb tip Morning Hoops in Nashville on Wednesday
Tennessee Tech (3-5, 0-0 OVC) makes the short trip to Nashville to face Lipscomb (4-4, 0-0 ASUN) for an Education Day matchup at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech (3-5, 0-0 OVC) makes the short trip to Nashville to face Lipscomb (4-4, 0-0 ASUN) for an Education Day matchup at 11 a.m. CT on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles are looking to snap their two-game losing skid at Lipscomb, which has won three straight games entering tomorrow's contest. It's an earlier tip than normal (11 a.m. CT) due to Education Day. Tech is 43-13 against Lipscomb over 56 meetings in series history. The Golden Eagles have dropped two straight games, with the last matchups taking place during the 2022-23 season.

Most recently, TTU fell 123-81 at Georgia to cap a two-game SEC road trip that included matchups with Kentucky (11/26; L, 54-104) and UGA (11/29). The Golden Eagles fell to 1-4 on the road with their only win coming at USC Upstate (W, 88-84) on Nov. 19.
The players average double-digits for Tech, with Mekhi Cameron pacing the team with 11.5 points per game on 44.1 percent shooting from the field. JaJuan Nicholls is second on the team in scoring with 11.0 points per contest, leads the team with nine blocks, and is second in rebounds per game (5.0). Dani Pounds is third on the team in scoring with 10.0 points per game, marking the third player to average double digits.
Freshman Jacobe Whitted leads the roster with 5.7 boards per game, and Ty Owens paces the team with 4.1 assists per contest.
Tech has averaged 77.6 points per game while outshooting opponents 45.7 percent to 43.7.
After getting off to a blazing start, leading scorer Mekhi Cameron has posted back-to-back single-digit games with three points at Kentucky (1-10 FG) and four points at Georgia (2-5 FG). Cameron will look to get back to his scoring ways at Lipscomb. He leads the team with 92 total points.
Ja'Quavian Florence scored in double-digits in two of his last three games with 13 points at USC Upstate (5-12 FG), 11 points at Kentucky (5-12 FG), and just seven points at Georgia (3-9 FG). He's knocking on the door of averaging in double figures with 9.4 points per contest, including a season-high 17 points at Charlotte back in early November.
Nicholls has posted double-digits in two of the last three games with 11 points at USC Upstate and 13 points at Georgia (6-10 FG). He has shot 69.6 percent (39-56) so far this season while posting the second-most rebounds per game (5.0).
Owens leads with team with 4.1 assists per game and scored a season-high 15 points at Georgia, while shooting a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line. It marked a career-best in points since joining the Golden Eagles, and his first in double-digit scoring this season.
Dani Pounds' run of four straight games in double-digit scoring came to an end at Georgia (11/29) with just three points on 1-of-4 from the field after fouling out in the contest. His run of four straight included a season high 17 points against West Georgia (11/17).
C.J. McPherson tied his season high at Georgia, scoring 12 points on 2-of-7 from the field, 2-of-5 from three-point range, and 6-of-6 from the line. It tied his offensive effort against Berea on Nov. 13.
OPPONENT NOTES
Four players lead Lipscomb in double figures, Grant Asman averaging 13.1 points per game, Ross Candelino with 12 pts per game, Ethan Duncan with 10.6 points per contest, and Mateo Esmeraldo with 10.0.
The Bisons have won three straight games with victories over Western Carolina (W, 83-62), at Marshall (W, 90-67), and at SEMO (W, 88-77). In the recent victory over OVC foe SEMO, Lipscomb was led with 22 points from Esmeraldo. Charlie Williams (12 pts), Kennedy Okpara (11 pts), and Ethan Duncan (14 pts) also scored in double digits for the Bisons.
Lipscomb scored a season-high 98 points against Bryan on Nov. 15, including a season-best 36 made field goals in that game.
NEXT UP
This marks the fourth straight road game for Tech, and the team closes out the trip at West Georgia on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. CT. After Saturday's Road contest, the Golden Eagles return to Eblen Center for four straight games to close out the month of December, including the opening of Conference play against SEMO (12/18) and in-state rivals UT Martin (12/20), and Tennessee State (12/30).
