The Golden Eagles face Charlotte in Second Consecutive Road Contest

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Tennessee Tech men's basketball is back on the road at Charlotte on Friday, with the second straight road matchup to begin the season. Tip is schedule for 6 p.m. CT, and the game can be watched on ESPN+.
Tennessee Tech (0-1, 0-0) faces the Charlotte 49ers (1-0, 0-0) for the fifth time in program history, holding a 1-3 record. Tech's only win against Charlotte was a 74-68 victory in Cookeville on Feb. 1, 1973. The Golden Eagles have dropped the last contest, which was played in 1974. Tech is 0-2 on the road and 1-1 at home against Charlotte.

In the season-opener, the Golden Eagles cut the WKU lead to five twice, but that's as close as they would get in an 82-70 loss on Monday, Nov. 3. Brandon Muntu and Mekhi Cameron led Tech in scoring with 13 points apiece. Jacobe Whitted led the team with seven rebounds (1 off, 6 def) and added seven points.
JaJuan Nicholls scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, and Ty Owens also added eight points on 3-of-6 from the field with a team-leading five assists.
Off the bench, Dani Pounds contributed in multiple ways, from scoring eight points on 4-of-7 from the field to grabbing four rebounds and providing some needed momentum with this thunderous dunk.

Grant Slatten added six points on 3-of-4 from the field, Ja'Quavian Florence and C.J. McPherson chipped in four points (Florence) and three points (McPherson), respectively.
Tech was outrebounded 42-to-36 by WKU. TTU shot 44.3 percent (27-61) from the field, including 32.3 percent (10-31) from three-point range, and made 50 percent of its free throws (6-12).
The Golden Eagles made one more shot than the Hilltoppers (27-to-26), and sank eight more three-pointers (10-to-2), but WKU held an overwhelming advantage at the free throw line, taking 35 opportunities from the stripe and converting on 28 of them, while the Eagles were granted only 12 free throw chances and made six.
