TTU Continues road trip at SIUE Saturday

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Tennessee Tech travels to Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville (SIUE) for Saturday's matchup at 1:30 p.m. CT at First Community Arena.
The Golden Eagles fell to 7-13 overall, and 2-7 in OVC play with an 89-68 loss to Lindenwood on the road Thursday, and continue on the road Saturday at SIUE. It marks the 25th matchup in series history with Tech holding a 13-11 lead. SIUE has won the last four games against TTU.

JaJuan Nicholls led the team in scoring, with 15 points on 4-of-11 shooting (36.4%) and 7-of-8 from the line. Grant Slatten finished second on the squad with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, including 2-of-2 from three off the bench. Brandon Muntu was third on the team with 10 points on 3-of-8 FG.
Nicholls has scored in double figures in two of the last three games, with 16 points against Southern Indiana (1/15) and 15 points tonight. His growth from the free-throw line was on display tonight, making a career-high seven free throws. Nicholls has made 13 of his last 19 from the line over the last three games. He has led the Golden Eagles in scoring in three of the last seven games dating back to Dec. 30. Slatten posted his first double-digit scoring game with a season-high 11 off the bench. He shot 80 percent from the field, making 4-of-5 over a season-high 28 minutes.

Mekhi Cameron leads the Golden Eagles with 11 points per game on 41.3 percent (69-167) shooting from the field and 32.2 percent shooting from three (28-87). Dani Pounds is second on the team, averaging 10.6 points per game while shooting 52.4 percent (66-126) from the field, 41.7 percent from three (5-12), and making 79.3 percent of his three pointers (65-82). JaJuan Nicholls averages 9.5 points per game, while shooting 63.6 percent (75-118) from the field, sinking 61.9 percent on free throws (39-63) and grabbing 4.4 rebounds per game.

OPPONENT NOTES
SIUE improved to 12-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play with a 74-66 win over Tennessee State on Thursday. Jack Campion's first career double-double and the first career 20-point game from Kyle Thomas lifted SIUE to the win. The fourth straight win for SIUE in the series with the Tigers. Campion scored 14 points and tied his career high with 10 assists. Thomas landed seven of nine field goal attempts and went 6-7 at the free throw line for a career-best 20 points. Tyler King scored 13 points, including 11 in the second half. Arnas Sakenis tied his career high with five blocks.
