COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech men's basketball has announced the signing of Lance Barnes to begin the 2026 Class.
Barnes hails from Fort Mill, South Carolina, where he is ranked as the No. 5 player in the state. The three-star guard attends Legacy Early College in Greenville, S.C. He is the first member of the 2026 recruiting class to join the Golden Eagles.
"We are excited to welcome Lance and his family into our program," said Coach Pelphrey. "He possesses a relentless work ethic and leadership that you love to watch."
Coach Pelphrey continued. "Lance is an athletic lead guard that can play multiple positions on the floor, has a great feel and understanding of the game, while also setting the tone on the defensive end. We as a staff cannot wait for the opportunity to coach him here at Tennessee Tech."
During his junior season, Barnes averaged 11.6 points per game. He grabbed 3.6 rebounds per contest, dished out 2.4 assists per game, and posted 3.4 steals per contest.
Before attending Legacy Early College, Barnes spent his first two seasons at Catawba Ridge High School. There, he earned 2022-23 All-Region and 2023-24 All-State while taking home the Region Championship both seasons.
Barnes spent his summers playing on the Adidas circuit for Upward Stars 3SSB, where he played against some of the best prospects in the country.
He intends to major in Sports Management at Tennessee Tech University.
