Tech Beach falls in OVC tourney opener to UT Martin
MARTIN, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech was battling with UT Martin on Thursday in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Beach Volleyball Championships, but the Skyhawks were able to close out three pairings before the Golden Eagles could clinch one, giving UTM a 3-0 victory.

MARTIN, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech was battling with UT Martin on Thursday in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference Beach Volleyball Championships, but the Skyhawks were able to close out three pairings before the Golden Eagles could clinch one, giving UTM a 3-0 victory.
Tech will take on Morehead State at 10 AM in the consolation bracket. The winner will take on the winner of Eastern Illinois and UT Martin at 4 PM Friday, while the loser will see its season come to a close.
MK Roberts and Vivian RoBards had the advantage over the Skyhawks' top pair, winning the first set 25-23 and had a 12-9 lead when the match was clinched. Bailey Poppe and Savannah Knepp at No. 3 also went incomplete against Lauren Mariscal and Luli Arcucci as the UTM duo led 21-10 and 18-12.
The No. 4 battle between Tech's Audrey Kilgore and Cristina Rotola and UTM's Amara Traiger and Andie Kryak finished first with a 21-14 and 21-5 result in favor of the Skyhawks. The No. 5 sand finished next with Kristin Phillips and Abby Freund topping Zoe Mish and Piper Jones 21-12 and 21-15.
The Skyhawks clinched the match as Dylan Sulcer and Reagan McGee defeated Kyana Gabriel and Alanah Craig 21-11 and 21-6.
