Golden Eagles make progress at GSU Day of Duals
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team faced its first Division I action of the season and had a full slate on Wednesday at the Georgia State Day of Duals. The Golden Eagles won one and almost took a second pairing against Austin Peay as the Governors won 4-1, while Eastern Kentucky and host Georgia State swept both matches.

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team faced its first Division I action of the season and had a full slate on Wednesday at the Georgia State Day of Duals.
The Golden Eagles won one and almost took a second pairing against Austin Peay as the Governors won 4-1, while Eastern Kentucky and host Georgia State swept both matches.
Against APSU, at the No. 1 spot, MK Roberts and Vivian Robards dropped the first set 21-17, but rallied to take the second 21-15 to even their match, then was able to overcome Isabella Russell and Grace Austin to win the tiebreaker 15-9.
It was the opposite at No.5 as Zoe Mish and Alanah Craig took the first set 21-12, but Emma Lolars and Cami Missig won the second and third 21-12 and 15-8 for the win.
Bailey Hope and Ashley Boswell defeated Kyana Gabriel and Jordyn Hamlin 21-16 and 21-7 at No. 2, Jordyn Beneteau and Alyson Cooper beat Piper Jones and Audrey Kilgore 21-11 and 21-18 at No. 3, then Aubriegh Oswald and Addi Hulquist topped Kaesha Walter and Maggie Kamp 21-8 and 21-19.
Against the Colonels, Roberts and RoBards were able to take Molly Shomock and Riley Cutler to the third set with a 23-21 win in the opening game and fell 21-16 in the second before dropping the tiebreaker 15-10.
Carlyn McAllister and Kaiya Ward defeated Gabriel and Hamlin 23-21 and 21-16, Gabrielle Armitage and Elpida Pitsigkoni topped Jones and Kilgore 21-13 and 21-11. Amanda Floystad and Sutton Sales beat Mish and Walter 21-8 and 21-11, then Arilyn Lee and Zsa Zsa defeated Kamp and Craig 21-11 in both sets.
Georgia State defeated Tech in two sets in all five pairings as Savannah Ebard and Bella Troncale topped Roberts and RoBards 21-17 and 21-19 in the closest of the five matchups. Danica Singleton and Michaela Jefferson beat Gabriel and Hamlin 21-13 and 21-12, Kealy Dinner and Ella Mozeleski topped Bailey Poppe and Jones 21-9 and 21-15. Ellie Neville and Kaylie Drysdale defeated Walter and Kilgore 21-10 and 21-11, and Kaebre Sullivan and Noalani Nuez beat Mish and Craig 21-12 and 21-10.
The Golden Eagles (1-7) return to action this weekend at the Coastal Carolina Invitational, taking on Salem and the Chanticleers on Friday and South Florida on Saturday.
Tech will then host its two home dates next week in Louisville, Tenn., as the Golden Eagles entertain Colorado Mesa on Tuesday at 11 AM and 1 PM, then open Ohio Valley Conference play against Morehead State at 10 AM and Noon on Thursday.
