Golden Eagles fall in first day of APSU Invitational
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech saw three pairings go to three sets as the Golden Eagles battled with Eastern Illinois in the first day of the Austin Peay Invitational on Friday, but the Panthers took the match 4-1. Tech finished the day with a 5-0 defeat against Missouri State. The Golden Eagles continue the APSU Invitational on Saturday as they face Southwest Baptist at 2 PM, followed by host Austin Peay at 4 PM.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech saw three pairings go to three sets as the Golden Eagles battled with Eastern Illinois in the first day of the Austin Peay Invitational on Friday, but the Panthers took the match 4-1.
Tech finished the day with a 5-0 defeat against Missouri State. The Golden Eagles continue the APSU Invitational on Saturday as they face Southwest Baptist at 2 PM, followed by host Austin Peay at 4 PM.
MK Roberts and Vivian RoBards took Laura Paniagua and Giorgia Cappelletti to the third set, as did Savannah Knepp and Cristina Rotola against Sylvia Hasz and Lilli Amettis and Piper Jones and Audrey Kilgore against Alanys Nieves and Tori Mohesky, but Eastern Illinois prevailed in all three as Paniagua/Cappelletti won 21-13, 13-21 and 1-13, Hasz/Amettis won 21-10, 18-21 and 16-14 and Nieves/Mohesky 21-12, 15-21 and 15-10.
Alanah Craig and Kyana Gabriel took a point away from the Panthers as the Tech pair defeated Anaya Rawlinson and Katie Kopshever 23-21 and 21-10, while Kaesha Walter and Bailey Poppe fell 21-18 and 21-9 to Emma Schroeder and Ariadna Pereles.
Against the Bears, Amanda Cleary and Mackenzie Steele topped Roberts and Robards by dual 21-15 scores, Rylie Cepicky and Raylee Stenzel defeated Rotola and Knepp 21-5 and 21-11. Manuela Niemeyer and Maddie Schrandt beat Craig and Gabriel in 21-10 sets with Morgan Bos and Taylor Germann overpowering Walter and Poppe and Jaycee Fixsen and Logan Kaneshiro over Kilgore and Jones by identical 21-9 and 21-14 results.
Shea Skouby and Gabby Liles topped Maggie Kamp and Zoe Mish in exhibition play 21-14 and 21-16.
