BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – As Tennessee Tech gets set to open its third beach volleyball campaign next weekend, the Ohio Valley Conference announced its preseason poll, returning All-OVC athletes and the Players to Watch list.
Graduate MK Roberts was named Tech's Player to Watch.
Roberts, a native of Dalton, Ga., is the lone returnee from last season's squad. She went 9-14 last season from the No. 3-spot as she was teamed primarily with Aleeya Jones and one match with Jordan Karlen. Roberts finished the season winning six of her last seven pairings.
Chattanooga was picked as the preseason favorite, earning 10 first-place votes and 10 points overall. UT Martin earned the other two first-place votes with 37 points. Morehead State was third with 36 points. Lindenwood (28), Tech (17) and Eastern Illinois (12) round out the preseason poll.
The returning All-OVC list included six players from Chattanooga, four from Lindenwood, two from UT Martin and one from Lindenwood, while each team received one on the Players to Watch list.
Tech will have its Purple and Gold Scrimmage at 3:30 PM Friday and 1 PM Saturday before opening the season officially next Friday with a doubleheader at Carson-Newman.
