Tech Beach splits first day of Coastal Carolina Invitational
CONWAY, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team picked up a victory on the first day of the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday as the Golden Eagles defeated Salem College 4-1. Tech (2-8) later fell 5-0 to host Coastal Carolina. The Golden Eagles complete the tournament on Saturday morning as they take on South Florida at 8 AM CT.

CONWAY, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech beach volleyball team picked up a victory on the first day of the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Friday as the Golden Eagles defeated Salem College 4-1.
Tech (2-8) later fell 5-0 to host Coastal Carolina. The Golden Eagles complete the tournament on Saturday morning as they take on South Florida at 8 AM CT.
It was a dominant performance for the Golden Eagles in the early match. MK Roberts and Vivian RoBards cruised to a 21-13, 21-12 victory over Sadie Rich and Madison Bozarth in the No. 1 match. Kyana Gabriel and Savannah Knepp then put a pair of 21-16 sets together to beat Katelynn Miller and Taylor Cook.
There was no doubt in the No. 3 pairing as Bailey Poppe and Jordyn Hamlin cruised to a 21-15, 21-8 victory over McKenzie Tullock and Ellie Scherer. Salem College picked up its lone win at the No. 4 pair as Leah Rymer and Olivia Torres put together a 21-13 and 21-17 win over Kaesha Walter and Piper Jones.
Zoe Mish and Audrey Kilgore wrapped up the scoring portion with a three-set win over Jolina Bun and Ariana Noplos as Tech claimed the first set 21-16, Salem the middle set by the reverse score, then Mish and Kilgore picked up the win with a 15-8 victory in the third.
Maggie Kamp and Alanah Craig won their exhibition pairing 21-7 and 21-10 over Emma Marion and Molly Enos.
Against the host Chanticleers, Roberts and RoBards battled with Fried Meincke and Emma Kunaus, but Coastal edged the Tech pair 21-17 and 21-19 at the top spot. Maya McNabney and Courtney Burnham topped Gabriel and Knepp 21-6 and 21-12 at the No. 2 pair, while Kristyna Koblizkova and Anna Rita won 21-12 and 21-16 at the No. 3 spot over Walter and Hamlin.
At No. 4, Olivia Pippin and Madeline Sigmon defeated Poppe and Jones 21-14 and 21-11, while Ava Novello and Karis Gordon topped Mish and Craig 21-8 and 21-14 at No. 5. Kilgore and Kamp fell in the exhibition against Ella Wadsworth and Jillian Stein 21-14 and 21-10.
