HIGH SCHOOL: A highly-decorated player at Ocean View High, Capelouto earned first-team all-league honors all four years and Rookie of the Year as a freshman, was the Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore, Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and was Team MVP and League MVP -- as well as a selection to the All-CIF Division 5 team as a senior ... was also a first-team all-League selection in flag football ... helped lead Ocean View to a Division 5 championship in 2021 and a quarterfinal finish in 2023 ... her best season was her senior campaign as she posted a .587 batting average and a .687 on-base percentage with 44 hits -- including eight home runs -- 33 RBI and 32 runs scored ... she finished her four-year prep career with a .454 batting average, a .537 on-base percentage, 192 hits with 17 home runs, 89 RBI and 96 runs scored.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – In between two lightning delays for nearly three-and-a-half hours, the Tennessee Tech softball team battled back and forth with UT Martin on Saturday, but the Skyhawks claimed the lead in the top of the sixth and didn’t relinquish it, taking a 7-5 victory in the series opener. With the delays, Saturday’s scheduled second game now becomes game one of a Senior Day doubleheader on Sunday, starting at noon. JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – It was bombs away for the Tennessee Tech softball team on Tuesday as the Golden Eagles hit three home runs and second baseman Ashley Capelouto struck for six RBI to put together a 12-0, five-inning victory over future Southern Conference foe East Tennessee State. Capelouto’s six RBI stands one short of tying the program single-game record of seven, held by Callie Schmidt (vs. Eastern Kentucky 4/13/2011) and TTU Sports Hall of Famer Beth Boden (twice, vs. Samford 4/20/2008, vs. UMass 3/8/2007). She had a grand slam in the fourth inning, then hit a two-run blast in the fifth inning, going 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – After starting Ohio Valley Conference play this past Friday, the Tennessee Tech softball team will now get to take a look at a future conference opponent on Tuesday as the Golden Eagles head to Johnson City to take on Southern Conference foe East Tennessee State. The Bucs enter the game with an 11-5 record, but went 2-4 this past weekend at the Winthrop Invitational. ETSU fell in three straight games, posting a 6-4 defeat against Georgia State, then two games against host Winthrop with an extra-inning 8-7 loss and a 3-1 defeat.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – It came down to the final at-bat. After SIUE took a 6-4 lead in the top of the seventh after three scoreless frames, Tennessee Tech had the potential winning run at the plate with two on, but the Cougars were able to coax the final out with a grounder to end the contest and preserve the sweep for the visitors, 6-4. The Golden Eagles (2-17, 0-3 OVC) return to action Tuesday with a midweek contest at ETSU, then head to Nashville for next week’s OVC series at Tennessee State on Saturday and Sunday.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech softball team will get to open both the home slate and the Ohio Valley Conference schedule a day early as the potential for severe weather has prompted the team to move up the scheduled games against SIUE. The doubleheader will now be played at 1 PM Friday with the second game following at approximately 30-45 minutes after the first’s conclusion. The series will wrap up Saturday with a single game, starting at 9 AM. All games at Tech Softball Field are free admission to the public.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tennessee Tech had chances on Saturday, but the Golden Eagles fell twice to Jacksonville to continue the UNF-JU Classic, falling 3-1 and 7-1 to the Dolphins. The Golden Eagles (2-13) return to action on Sunday as they close out the event with one last contest against North Florida at 11 AM.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a rough start for the Tennessee Tech softball team at the UNF-JU Classic on Thursday as the Golden Eagles took one on the chin in the opener as the host North Florida squad no-hit Tech in the first game. Things went a little smoother in game two as Emily York had a solid outing, but the host Ospreys took the nightcap 3-0.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tennessee Tech will head down to Jacksonville for a unique event this weekend as the Golden Eagles will face North Florida for a doubleheader on Thursday, Jacksonville University for a twinbill on Saturday, then wrap up Sunday with another single game against the Ospreys. Tech’s competing in the UNF-JU Classic as both teams will take on the Golden Eagles and DePaul in the four-team round robin. With anticipated weather in Jacksonville, Tech’s games against UNF has already been moved to Thursday afternoon with a Noon Central first pitch with the second game following approximately 30 minutes after.

STATESBORO, Ga. – For a long time, Tennessee Tech and Eastern Kentucky were rivals on the softball field in the Ohio Valley Conference. Over the years, it was one of the premier matchups in the league and created a lot of legendary games for both programs. On Saturday, as the two teams met once more – this time on the neutral field of Georgia Southern’s GATA Challenge – the Golden Eagles unloaded, striking for nine unanswered runs as Tech shut out the Colonels 9-0.

STATESBORO, Ga. – Tennessee Tech started off with a close battle to open the Georgia Southern GATA Challenge on Friday, taking Rhode Island to extra innings in the opener, but the hosts were able to collect some big hits to run-rule the Golden Eagles in the second game of the day. Rhode Island scored the walk-off run in the eighth inning to claim a 2-1 victory, while Georgia Southern won 11-0.

Now, the Golden Eagles look to keep the momentum as they head down to the Peach State to compete in the Georgia Southern GATA Challenge. Tech (1-7) will take on Rhode Island at 9 AM Friday, then the host Eagles at 2 PM. Saturday will see the Golden Eagles take on former Ohio Valley Conference foe Eastern Kentucky at 9 AM, then a repeat game against Rhode Island at 4:30 PM. Tech will close out the event on Sunday as it takes on Georgia Southern at 11 AM. Both games against the host Eagles will be streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Tennessee Tech’s bats came out in a big way Saturday morning as the Golden Eagles got their revenge on Queens, topping the Royals 8-2 to collect their first win of the season. BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – Tennessee Tech had a fast start Friday in its game against Queens of Charlotte, but its hopes for its first victory of the young season were dashed as the Royals scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a 6-5 victory in the Red and Black Classic at Gardner-Webb. The Golden Eagles (0-6) return to action Saturday morning as they have a return game against the Royals at 9 AM, then face tournament host Gardner-Webb at 2 PM.

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Tennessee Tech softball team was able to get some hits on the opening day of the season, but just couldn’t string them together at the right time as the Golden Eagles fell 6-3 to Howard and 6-2 to host Campbell on the first day of the Campbell Stampede. The Golden Eagles (0-2) face the same two teams on Saturday as Tech takes on Howard at 11:30 AM and Campbell at 4:30 PM.
