Tech Track & Field sets sights on strong regular-season finish at the Music City Challenge

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Tech Track & Field returns to action at the Music City Challenge, set for Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2.
The event will take place in Vanderbilt's Multipurpose facility, which includes a 120-yard-long indoor practice field, surrounded by a six-lane track and a 300-meter indoor track.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Golden Eagles look to build off a strong performance at the Catamount Classic, where they posted three event wins and a steady number of personal-best marks across multiple event groups.
Tech's sprint group continues to trend upward, highlighted by a season-best time of 46.71 in the women's 4x100m relay. Hannah Little added a personal-best 24.88 in the 200m, while Kyla Joy led the 400m group with a PR of 56.95.
The hurdles group was a key focus, led by Rachael Brewer, who posted a personal-best time of 1:03.63 in the 400m hurdles to move up to 2nd on the OVC list. Carrie Flowers and Chase Wolfenbarger also had strong outings, recording personal-best times of 15.01 and 15.27 in the 100m hurdles.
In the field events, the jumps squad delivered strong results in Cullowhee. Sidnee Stanton led the way with a winning mark of 5.70m (18-08.50) in the long jump, while Asharee Davis followed with a personal-best 5.61m (18-05.00). In the high jump, Madison Johnson cleared a personal-best 1.68m (5-06.00) to tie for first, and Ally Beneke added a top-three finish with a clearance of 1.63m (5-04.25). Tyla Street also contributed with a season-best 11.57m (37-11.50) in the triple jump.
In the middle-distance events, Paris Bowles delivered one of the top performances of the meet, finishing second in the 800m with a personal-best time of 2:10.45.
The distance group was a strength, led by Jane Lokiles in the 1500m with a time of 4:41.82, while Makaleigh Jessee (4:42.89) and Rylee Wells (4:44.05) added strong performances. In the 3000m steeplechase, Joy Jepleting will look to build on a top finish after posting a time of 11:33.64.
On the men's side, Carter Bradford and Cruz Hesling will be ones to watch, as Bradford secured a personal-best win in the 1500m with a time of 3:50.02, while Hesling enters after a personal-best victory in the 3000m steeplechase in 9:39.73, continuing strong outdoor campaigns for both.
