WHAT TO WATCH FOR
Tech enters the outdoor season with momentum after stacking podium finishes, personal records, and a pair of conference titles to close out indoor competition at the OVC Indoor Championship in Louisville on Feb 24 and 25. Tech placed 3rd overall with 90 points, fueled by standout performances across sprints, distance, jumps, and relays.
Freshman sensation Kennedi Winbush, the newly crowned OVC Freshman of the Year, headlines Tech's transition outdoors after a dominant indoor finale. Winbush captured the 60m Championship in 7.51 seconds and added a 3rd‑place finish in the 200m (24.36). She'll look to carry that speed into the outdoor sprint group alongside Hannah Little and Aliyah Kennedy, who combined for 14 points in the 400m with Little's 56.04 runner‑up finish and Kennedy's 57.29 PR for 3rd, before teaming up on Tech's championship 3:47.51 4x400m relay.
The Golden Eagles' distance crew also rides strong momentum into Birmingham. Makaleigh Jessee led the group with a podium‑worthy 2nd‑place finish in the 5000m, clocking 17:52.85, while Jane Lokiles followed close behind in 4th at 17:55.87. In the 3000m, Rylee Wells added another podium result with a 3rd‑place finish in 10:05.63, and Jessee capped her strong weekend with a 10:06.17 personal best to place 4th.
In the field, Sidnee Stanton placed 4th in the long jump with a leap of 5.59m. In the high jump, Ally Beneke cleared 1.66m for 4th, and Madison Johnson added a 1.61m clearance for 7th.
