Golden Eagles Shine with Multiple Top‑Five Finishes at the UAB Spring Invite

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Tennessee Tech Track & Field delivered with Top 5 finishes and personal records at the UAB Spring Invite.
"The team has started the outdoor season really well," said head coach Peter Dalton. "We're excited for more opportunities over the next few weeks."
Tech's distance squad put together a strong season opener. Freshman Jane Lokiles headlined the group with a 17:48.14 personal best to win the women's 5000m. Makaleigh Jessee followed with a 3rd‑place finish in 17:59.58, and Zaely Tilt added a 5th‑place finish in 18:15.04, giving Tech three runners inside the top five.
Carter Bradford and Zak Myles‑Hawkins delivered a powerful 1–2 punch in the 5000m. Bradford stormed to a 14:44.63 personal record to take the win, while Myles‑Hawkins followed closely in 14:46.70 for 2nd. Cruz Hesling rounded out the podium sweep with a 3rd‑place finish in 15:04.69.
On Friday, Myles‑Hawkins also claimed victory in the men's 1500m with a sharp 3:54.75, followed by Bradford in 2nd at 3:55.71.
Rylee Wells recorded a 6th-place finish (4:48.49) in the 1500m. Hayley Stegall followed with an 8th-place finish at 4:51.08. Hannah Faudi finished the night for tech, earning 3rd‑place in the 2000m steeplechase with a time of 7:35.65.
Freshman Kennedi Winbush started her season off strong, clocking an 11.77 personal record to finish 4th in the 100m. Carrie Flowers recorded a personal best 100m hurdles time of 15.02 seconds, for 8th overall. In the 400m, Hannah Little led the way in 8th with a time of 56.61, while Kayla Joy posted a 57.31 personal record to take 10th. In the women's 800m, Paris Bowles clocked a time of 2:15.67 to secure 2nd place.
The Golden Eagles' jumpers produced a standout day with multiple top‑three finishes and new personal bests. In the women's long jump, Sidnee Stanton placed 4th with a strong 5.74m mark, while Asharee Davis added a personal‑best 5.74m of her own. Angela Hoover also recorded a career‑best leap of 4.83m.
The high jump group added to the strong day, with Ally Beneke winning the event at 1.67m, followed by Madison Johnson in 2nd at 1.62m. In the triple jump, Tyla Street earned a 3rd‑place finish with a leap of 11.25m, and Asharee Davis added another PR, jumping 11.18m to take 4th.
