Former Tech women's basketball head coach Jim Davis to be inducted into South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Former Tennessee Tech women’s basketball head coach Jim Davis will be joining illustrious company as he was announced earlier this week as one of 10 inductees into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame. Davis coached four seasons in Cookeville, helming the Tech women to an Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship in the 2012-13 season, going 19-12 overall and 12-4 in league play.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Former Tennessee Tech women's basketball head coach Jim Davis will be joining illustrious company as he was announced earlier this week as one of 10 inductees into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame.
Davis coached four seasons in Cookeville, helming the Tech women to an Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship in the 2012-13 season, going 19-12 overall and 12-4 in league play.
The veteran coach is most known for an 18-year career at Clemson, going 355-197 with the Lady Tigers, posting a 154-124 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference play. He guided Clemson to two ACC titles in 1996 and 1999, while being named the ACC Coach of the Year twice in 1990 and 1994.
Davis led Clemson to 14 NCAA Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight run in the 1990-91 season as the Lady Tigers finished 22-11. His Clemson teams posted 11 Top 25 seasons, 11 20-plus-win campaigns and four NCAA Sweet 16 appearances. He ended his tenure as the winningest coach in Clemson history, regardless of sport.
In addition to his time at Clemson and Tech, Davis spent six years as the head coach at Roane State Community College, leading the Raiderettes to a 127-35 record with four Tennessee Junior College Athletic Association division titles and a state championship. The team was ranked in the NJCAA Top 10 in 1981, 1984 and 1985. Davis also spent one season at Middle Tennessee in 1986-87, going 19-8 with a 12-2 record in OVC play to share the league regular-season title with Tech.
He was also an assistant coach at Florida in 1985-86, an assistant with the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx in 2009 and an assistant coach at Young Harris College from 2010 to 2012 before becoming the head coach there in 2018-19.
Davis is already a member of the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame and the Tennessee Junior College Athletic Hall of Fame.
The induction will take place on May 18 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.
