Tech women fall at No. 18 USC
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Chloe Larry and Cam Mathews led the Tennessee Tech women’s basketball team in scoring on Tuesday night as they both put in 12 points in the Golden Eagles’ 85-44 loss to No. 18 USC at the Galen Center. Against one of the top teams in the country, the Golden Eagles (4-2) found offense at a premium as shots had a tough time falling against the Power 4 program. Tech shot 24.0 percent in the first half, hitting 6-of-25 from the field, including 2-for-6 from long range.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Chloe Larry and Cam Mathews led the Tennessee Tech women's basketball team in scoring on Tuesday night as they both put in 12 points in the Golden Eagles' 85-44 loss to No. 18 USC at the Galen Center.
Against one of the top teams in the country, the Golden Eagles (4-2) found offense at a premium as shots had a tough time falling against the Power 4 program. Tech shot 24.0 percent in the first half, hitting 6-of-25 from the field, including 2-for-6 from long range.
USC outscored Tech 22-8 in the first quarter, scoring the first 11 points of the game, then the last 11 points of the quarter. The Golden Eagles put together 11 points in the second quarter with six at the free throw line. Tech hit just two shots from the field in the second 10 minutes as Larry sank a 3-pointer and Amaya Redd sank a bucket.
The Women of Troy (4-2) repeated the same in the fourth quarter, holding the Golden Eagles to just two made shots in the fourth as Cam Mathews and Reghan Grimes both hit 3-pointers.
Tech ended the game shooting 21.5 percent (14-for-65) from the field, 23.8 percent (5-for-21) from 3-point range and 44.0 percent (11-for-25) from the free-throw line.
Redd scored eight points, while Grimes scored seven.
Jazzy Davidson had a double-double with 20 points and 16 rebounds as the USC freshman was 9-for-14 from the field. Londynn Jones scored 20 points on 7-of-9 shooting as she was 4-for-4 from downtown and 2-for-2 at the line. Vivian Iwuchukwu scored 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting.
USC ended the night blocking 15 Golden Eagle shots as Laura Williams led the way with four swats. Kennedy Smith had five of the Trojans' 21 assists.
The Golden Eagles return to action as they open a six-game homestand on Monday, hosting Lipscomb at 6 PM at the Hooper Eblen Center.
