Cawthorn named OVC Player and Freshman of the Week
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech got breakout performances last week from true freshman forward LaReesha Cawthorn as the Franklin, Ky., native poured it on against Middle Tennessee and Kennesaw State. On Tuesday, the Ohio Valley Conference announced its players of the week and Cawthorn took home two honors as she was named the league’s Player and Freshman of the Week.

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech got breakout performances last week from true freshman forward LaReesha Cawthorn as the Franklin, Ky., native poured it on against Middle Tennessee and Kennesaw State.
On Tuesday, the Ohio Valley Conference announced its players of the week and Cawthorn took home two honors as she was named the league's Player and Freshman of the Week.
For the week, Cawthorn averaged 14.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, while shooting .650 from the field, .500 from 3-0point range and .667 at the stripe. She also had two assists, three blocks and three steals.
Cawthorn was 9-for-11 from the field in a big performance against Middle Tennessee, shooting 7-for-7 in the second half. She ended the 63-54 victory over the Blue Raiders with 21 points, eight rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocks.
She followed up that effort with eight points and nine rebounds in the 61-60 loss at Kennesaw State, picking up an assist, two steals and a block against the Owls.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Thursday as they host ETSU at the Hooper Eblen Center with a 6 PM tipoff.
