MURRAY, Ky. – Tennessee Tech Soccer will be back in action on Sunday, taking on a former familiar face as they head into Kentucky to take on Murray State.
Match time is set for 3 p.m. Sunday with the event streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).
Tech (0-3-0) has had a challenging slate thus far against top-tier competition and the former Ohio Valley Conference foe gives the Golden Eagles a chance to build some momentum. Tech took one on the chin Thursday against No. 11-ranked Vanderbilt with a 6-0 defeat, but the Golden Eagles had a pair of 2-0 losses in the first week against Lipscomb and South Alabama.
The Racers (1-2-0) opened the season with a 2-0 victory against Troy, then fell 1-0 to OVC foe Lindenwood and 2-1 to Lipscomb in Nashville.
Murray State is led offensively by Addison Howell, who has 10 total shots with three on goal, while Breece Bass has eight shots with five on net. Howell, Tori Schrimpf and Megan Wilson all have goals for the Racers this year.
In their three matches, the Racers have 43 total shots with 18 on-goal, while allowing 35 shots, 12 for saves.
Griselda Revolorio has started all three games in net, posting a 1.000 goals allowed average and an .800 save percentage.
Tech, meanwhile, is looking for its first goal of the season, going 0-for-11 on its shooting attempts and 0-for-4 on-net. Tori Soutuyo and Lucia Cuadra each have a team-best two shots, with both of Soutuyo's tries saved. Natalie Howard and Anna Baker have the other two Golden Eagle shots on goal.
The tough competition to open the year has skewed goalkeeper Maggie Conrad's numbers a little with a 3.33 GAA and a .565 save percentage, an unfortunate byproduct of facing one of the nation's top offenses in Vanderbilt.
Including Sunday's match at Murray State, the Golden Eagles continue to face challenging non-conference foes for the next few weeks until opening conference play on Sept. 21. Tech returns home Thursday to host future conference foe East Tennessee State as the Golden Eagles join the Southern Conference next season.
