Schmissrauter named OVC Pitcher of the Week
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Tech sophomore Maddie
Schmissrauter has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of
the Week after her sterling performance in the circle last week for
the first-place Golden Eagles softball squad. It was her first
award this season and the second of her career.
The Chattanooga product was a perfect 3-0 last week with a 0.63
ERA, and also earned her first save of the season. She stopped
Bradley in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader after the
Braves had won 8-0 in the opener. She also beat Tennessee Wesleyan
and Austin Peay, then picked up the save on Sunday against APSU.
For the week she tossed 21 innings and struck out 31 while walking
eight and allowing just two earned runs.
Schmissrauter and the Golden Eagles play a non-conference game at
Middle Tennessee Tuesday, then head to Southeast Missouri this
weekend for a key OVC series with the Redhawks. Coach Tory
Acheson's Golden Eagles are 16-15 overall and lead the league with
a 5-0 record. Tech has won six in a row heading the MTSU.
Jacksonville State catcher Allie Barker was named the OVC Player of
the Week.
