Forecast not promising, but Golden Eagles ready to play in Frost Invitational
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. -- The last thing Tory Acheson and the
Tennessee Tech softball team want to do this weekend is sit in
their rooms and watch the rain come down. The forecast is pretty
wet for the Chattanooga area Friday and Saturday, but the Golden
Eagles are hoping it clears enough to get a little action in at the
Frost Invitational.
The Golden Eagles (5-9) are anxious to return to the field after
dropping all five games against tough foes last weekend at the
prestigious Cathedral City Classic. Tech is also hoping to hand
Acheson his 700th career coaching victory this weekend -- he comes
into the tournament with 698 all-time victories as a collegiate
head coach.
Tech opens the weekend with a 2 p.m. game against Sacred Heart on
Friday, followed by a contest against Missouri State at 4:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Tech faces Valparaiso at 9 a.m. and Rhode Island at
11:30 a.m. The Golden Eagles wrap up play Sunday with a 9 a.m.
contest against Princeton.
