No. 17 Tech Moves to 2-0 with 45-17 Win Over Chattanooga

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – No. 17 Tennessee Tech football cruised past Chattanooga 45-17 to move to 2-0 for the 2025 season on Saturday at Tucker Stadium.

The Golden Eagles win their first two games of the season for the first time since the 2012 season, when Tech defeated Hampton (W, 41-31) and North Greenville (W, 42-14) to open that campaign. Quarterback Kekoa Visperas completed 18-of-27 for 240 yards and two touchdowns. Aidan Littles recorded 109 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns (1 rec, 1 rush).

Tech posted 513 total yards of offense (221 rush, 292 pass) and held Chattanooga to 274 total yards (25 rush, 249 pass), notching another complete performance against an opponent knocking on the door of the FCS Top 25. The 25 rushing yards by Chattanooga were the fewest allowed since the Golden Eagles surrendered zero yards to Tennessee State in 2024.

Theron Gaines led the Golden Eagles in tackles for the second straight game with 7.0 tackles (3 solo, 4 asts), including 1.0 sack for a loss of eight yards and 1.5 tackles for a loss of 9 yards. Gaines also recovered a fumble, one of two turnovers forced by Tech today. Tim Coutras was second on the team with six tackles (4 solo, 2 asts). Jeremy Mendez posted four tackles, including two sacks for a loss of seven yards.

Offensively, the Golden Eagles were led by Tre' Holloway's 74 receiving yards on four receptions, Maury Sullivan's 52 yards and one touchdown on four catches, and Brian Courtney's three receptions for 44 yards. In the run game, Quintell Quinn led Tech with 76 yards on six rushes with one touchdown. Littles finished with 72 yards on seven carries and one touchdown, and Q'Daryius Jennings rushed the ball eight times for 42 yards and one touchdown.

The Golden Eagles have rushed for seven touchdowns and thrown for six touchdowns in the first two games of the 2025 season. Tech has outscored its opponent 110 to 17 through two games, allowing just 8.5 points per game, 89 total rushing yards, and just 144.5 passing yards per game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

No. 17 Tech opened the scoring just 3:20 into the contest with a 10-yard touchdown rush by Jennings to cap a tone-setting nine-play 60-yard drive and put the Golden Eagles up 7-0 in the first quarter. After the Golden Eagles forced a three-and-out on the first drive for the Mocs, Littles added to the lead with a 48-yard touchdown rush, putting the home team in front 14-0.

Chattanooga attempted to respond, but an eight-yard sack by Gaines forced the Mocs to settle for a 36-yard field goal, cutting the Tech lead to 14-3. QB Kekoa Visperas connected with Littles for his second touchdown of the first quarter, a 37-yard strike to push the edge to 18.

The Golden Eagles scored three touchdowns in the first quarter and held a 21-3 lead after 15 minutes. Tech settled for a 20-yard field goal by Dom LeBlanc for the only points of the second quarter, adding to its lead 24-3 at the half.

Following an interception by Devin Hunter, which set the Golden Eagles up at the two-yard line, Quinn punched in the fourth offensive touchdown of the game, a two-yard rush to extend the advantage to 31-3.

Tech scored two more touchdowns, an 18-yard reception by Maury Sullivan and a 52-yard touchdown pass from Jace Wilson to Luke Shields, to extend the lead to the final score 45-17.
