2023: Coutras had a breakout season in his first season in Cookeville. He finished third in total tackles with 55 total – 24 solo and 31 assisted – while also collecting 4.5 for-loss for 12 yards. He also led the team in interceptions with four for 56 yards with two pass breakups and a forced fumble. He had a season-high nine tackles against UT Martin on Nov. 4, while he also recorded five tackles and two interceptions – including one for a touchdown -- at Robert Morris on Oct. 28. Coutras was also on the Big South-Ohio Valley Conference Football Association Preseason Players to Watch list. Last season saw Coutras earn a first-team selection by PhilSteele.com's conference team after a first-team nod from the Big South-OVC.

Stats Perform unveiled its preseason FCS Top 25 poll Monday morning and the Golden Eagles were picked 21st overall in the rankings. Tech was the only OVC-Big South team to make the cut as Southeast Missouri, UT Martin and Tennessee State – the other teams to share last season’s conference championship with the Golden Eagles – were among the others receiving votes.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – With the 2025 football season on the horizon, Tennessee Tech graduate defensive back Tim Coutras finds himself among elite company as the Golden Eagle standout was named to the preseason Buck Buchanan Award watch list on Wednesday. The Stats Perform-sponsored award, which honors the Football Championship Subdivision’s top defensive player at the end of the season, is named after legendary defensive lineman Junious “Buck” Buchanan, who had an illustrious career at Grambling State before becoming a Hall of Famer.
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – As the summer continues to wear on, more preseason honors have been announced for the Tennessee Tech football team as PhilSteele.com released its All-Ohio Valley Conference/Big South Conference teams Thursday night. In addition to the teams, graduate defensive back Tim Coutras was named the organization’s pick as the OVC/Big South Preseason Defensive Player of the Year. Tech collected 17 players across 19 spots – Tremel Jones made all three teams as a kick returner, all-purpose player and a punt returner.
