COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The day's not even over and Tennessee Tech finds itself on another Football Championship Subdvision preseason poll as the Golden Eagles were picked No. 23 on Monday's FCS Nation Radio Preseason Top 25.
Tech was tied for 22nd with Richmond in the American Football Coaches Association Preseason Top 25, presented by Hudl, earlier in the day. Fellow Ohio Valley Conference-Big South Conference foe UT Martin took the No. 25 spot in the poll.
The Dakotas took three of the top four spots as North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Montana State, South Dakota and Idaho filled out the top five, while Montana, Tarleton State, Illinois State, Mercer and Villanova completed the top 10.
Tech finished in a four-way tie for the OVC-Big South championship last season and was predicted to finish first in the tandem conference race this season. The Golden Eagles were also picked No. 21 in the Stats Perform FCS Preseason Top 25 last week.
Chattanooga, one of Tech's seven home opponents this season on Sept. 6, was picked 18th.
Among the poll's breakdown, six teams came from the Big Sky Conference, five from the Missouri Valley Football Conference, four from the Southern Conference, four from the Colonial Athletic Association and two from the OVC-Big South.
The team continues practice this week at Tucker Stadium with practice sessions Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 9 AM, while holding their second scrimmage on Saturday at 10 AM.
The Golden Eagles open the season on August 30 against Cumberland for the first of seven home games this season at Tucker Stadium as Tech looks to win the OVC-Big South title outright.
