Lindenwood downs Golden Eagles in Thursday match-up

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – For the first time this season, the Tennessee Tech volleyball team fell in Ohio Valley Conference action Thursday evening, dropping a 3-0 decision against Lindenwood at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
The Golden Eagle offense found trouble getting its footing offensively during the match, accumulating just 34 kills on an .099 attack. Lindenwood played that to its advantage, recording 51 terminations of its own while hitting .278.
The Lions opened the contest with a fury, rolling out to an 11-1 advantage. Tech battled and clawed its way back, cutting the deficit to three a few different times, but Lindenwood closed things out for a 25-19 win.
Set two was a tight one until the very end, with the purple and gold squaring things off at 17-17. The Lions called a timeout to end Tech's 4-0 run and responded with an 8-1 run of its own to take the set, 25-18.
In set three, the Golden Eagles took their largest advantage of the day with an 18-15 lead. The Lions instantly responded with a 5-0 run and it was on the rest of the way. All knotted up at 23-23, Lindenwood finished the match off with back-to-back points for a 25-23 win.
For Tech's effort on the night, outside hitters Madolyn Isringhausen and Alayna Pierce tied for the team lead with 10 kills each. Isringhausen added eight digs and an ace to the mix while Pierce chipped in seven digs and a block.
Fellow outside Bella Powell turned in six kills and three blocks while middle blocker Mallory Jenkins tallied six strikes and two rejections. Senior libero McKenna Young led the way with 17 digs, mixing in four assists as well. Junior setter Jordan Karlen doled out 28 helpers with 10 digs for a double-double and added two blocks for good measure.
Middle blocker Emma Pabon tied for the team lead with three total blocks. Defensive specialist Aleeya Jones chalked up 11 digs.
Tech and Lindenwood will square off one more time in Hyland Arena on Friday evening with another 6:00 p.m. CT affair. Friday's match will be streamed on ESPN+.
