The Tennessee Tech soccer team takes the road this weekend to
face nearby Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn. The Lady Gov's share
an identical Ohio Valley Conference record with Tech, with both
teams at 1-1-1 in league play.
"They're a quality team, they have some dangerous players that
we're going to have to try to keep in check," coach Becky Fletcher
said. "Every conference game is going to be a battle. This is
definitely one where we're going to have to compete for 90 minutes,
and earn our result."
For the first time since Aug. 24, the Golden Eagles will have
Sunday off, giving them one week between games before taking on
Eastern Illinois in Cookeville on Oct. 17.
"It's crunch time in the conference right now, so that will be a
good thing, we can let some people heal up," Fletcher said. "We've
got some bumps and bruises right now, as does everybody in the
country."
After this weekend, the Golden Eagles will have four more OVC
matches, before wrapping up the season at home with a
non-conference game against Lipscomb on Oct. 29. Senior day will be
Oct. 19 when Tech takes on Southeast Missouri at 1 p.m. Seniors
Rebecca Ross, Katie Hoover, Kristin Hennek, Katie Morrissey, and
Brianne Lankford will be honored before the game.
