Eleven finalists announced for 2009
Tech NCAA Woman of the Year
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech University Athletic Department has announced 11 finalists for the school’s 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year Award, with the winner to be announced Sunday, July 5.
To be eligible for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award, students must be a senior or graduate student who has completed her athletic eligibility during 2008-09. Criteria for selecting the award include both athletic and academic accomplishments, as well as additional areas such as community involvement and public service.

Amy Brown steps down
as women’s basketball coach
National search begins immediately
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech women’s basketball coach Amy Brown announced Tuesday that she is stepping down as head coach of the Golden Eagles in order to pursue other professional opportunities. Her resignation is effective Thursday (July 2).
Brown recently completed her third season as head coach and 13th season on the Tech staff. A national search will begin immediately to find Tech’s fourth women’s basketball head coach.

Defending champ volleyball team
adds three signees to ’09 rosterCOOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Defending Ohio Valley Conference volleyball champion Tennessee Tech has added three more signees to its 2009 roster, head coach John Blair announced this week.
The three newest Golden Eagle signees are Heather Asplund from Winnebago (Ill.) High School, Katrina Dvorken of Ridgewood (N.J.) High School, and Kelsey Gray from Newark (Ohio) High School.

COOKEVILLE — It’s not uncommon for a player in any sport to be able to play two different positions.
That happens quite a bit.
No, the toughest thing for a player who plays two different positions is to play both of them well.
For the Tennessee Tech baseball team, the Golden Eagles has had a
certifiable double threat for the past two seasons in sophomore first
baseman/pitcher A.J. Kirby-Jones.

Dennick makes professional
debut with Burlington RoyalsJOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Former Golden Eagle Ryan Dennick made his professional debut Friday night, tossing three innings in relief for the Burlington Royals in a 4-0 loss at Johnson City. Dennick didn't get a decision in his first appearance, striking out four batters.

Ten finalists named for 2009
TTU Outstanding Male Athlete
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – An elite list of 10 student-athletes has been
announced as finalists for Tennessee Tech University's 2009 Outstanding
Male Athlete Award, with the winner to be announced Sunday (June 28).
The TTU Awards Committee has named three members each on the
baseball football and baseball teams, two from basketball, and one each
from golf and tennis.

Tech inks two-sport standout
to play softball and volleyball
Golden Eagles sign Wisconsin’s Stacey Butts
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – A multi-sport standout in high school, Stacey Butts of Greenfield, Wis., hopes to continue that legacy at Tennessee Tech. The 6-foot-1 Honors student has signed a national letter of intent to play softball for coach Tory Acheson, and will also play on the volleyball team for coach John Blair.
