Golden Eagles resume OVC play at Eastern Kentucky
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. --- With just six Ohio Valley Conference games left in the regular season, the Tennessee Tech baseball team will look to increase its lead for the final playoff spot as it travels to Eastern Kentucky for a three-game series.
Game one of the series is scheduled for Friday at 2 p.m., with Saturday's game slated for 1 p.m. and Sunday's game set for 12 p.m. All game time are listed in Central Standard Time.
TTU (19-28, 9-12 OVC) currently sits in seventh place in the OVC standings, but holds the sixth and final spot in the OVC Tournament due to SIU Edwardsville being ineligible for postseason play. Southeast Missouri trails Tech with an 8-13 league record, and will host a three-game series with Murray State that owns a 7-14 conference record.
Tech has won two of its last three games, including a pair of victories over Morehead State last weekend. Several Golden Eagles have had hot bats during that stretch including Chad Hayes and Michael Morris who combined for 15 hits in 28 at bats. Zephan Guyear has led the team in RBIs this past week with six, while Morris has tallied four doubles and five RBIs.
EKU (26-20, 14-7 OVC) sits in a tie with Austin Peay for second place in the OVC standings. The Colonels have won their last four games, including a pair of wins over UT Martin.
Richie Rodriguez has provided most of the power for the Colonels as he has blasted 13 home runs and has driven in 39 RBIs. Jacob Daniel leads the team with 46 RBIs.
