Belmont strikes early as it hands Tennessee Tech an 8-1 loss in non-conference action
NASHVILLE --- The Belmont bats were out in force early on Tuesday evening as Tennessee Tech took an 8-1 non-conference loss.
The Bruins (24-10), who will join the Ohio Valley Conference next season, jumped all over the TTU pitching staff in the first four innings as they rang off eight runs on nine hits.
Belmont tacked on two runs in the first and second innings off TTU starter Cullen Park (2-4), who took the loss as he gave up four runs in two innings of work.
The Bruins continued to pour it on as they tagged TTU relief pitcher Andy Williams with three runs in the third, and one more in the fourth off a solo-shot from Matt Beaty, to increase its lead to 8-1.
TTU relief pitcher Josh Bryant replaced Williams and threw four scoreless innings as he gave up just one hit while striking out five.
Josh Davis (6-1) earned the win for the Bruins as he allowed just one run in four innings. Belmont went to the bullpen in the fifth and used four pitchers to complete the game as they allowed a total of four hits in the final five innings.
Bosheers recorded a game-high three hits, including a double and a triple, while Morris and James Abraham each posted two hits.
The Golden Eagles (13-18, 5-4 OVC) return home Wednesday as they host Alabama A&M at 6 p.m.
