Wichita State sweeps Golden Eagles
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech made a valiant comeback in the third set against Wichita State on Thursday, but the Shockers took the three-set sweep in the first day of the Golden Eagle Invitational presented by Holiday Inn of Cookeville. Wichita State improved to 5-2 on the season, including an earlier three-set sweep over Radford on the day, taking the match with the Golden Eagles 25-4, 25-10 and 25-17.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Tech made a valiant comeback in the third set against Wichita State on Thursday, but the Shockers took the three-set sweep in the first day of the Golden Eagle Invitational presented by Holiday Inn of Cookeville.
Wichita State improved to 5-2 on the season, including an earlier three-set sweep over Radford on the day, taking the match with the Golden Eagles 25-4, 25-10 and 25-17.
Bella Powell led Tech (2-5) with seven kills and nine digs, while Sarah Noto collected four kills in the contest. Jordan Karlen had 12 assists.
Sydney Dunning posted 13 kills and a .423 hitting percentage, while Brooklyn Leggett had 11 kills on 14 attacks for a .786 hitting percentage with three blocks.
It was a tough night for the Golden Eagles as they collected just two kills in the first set on 24 attacks. Tech had 19 total kills with 16 attack errors, while the Shockers were able to pull together 45 kills on 82 attacks and posted nine service aces.
Tech returns to action on Friday as it hosts Radford at 3 p.m. Wichita State plays Samford in the day's first game at 11 a.m., while Samford and Radford will compete in the day's finale at 6 p.m.
All volleyball games at the Hooper Eblen Center are open to the public.
