Thrilling season ahead for Tech Volleyball in 2025
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Following a successful 24-8 season last year, the Tennessee Tech women’s volleyball team aims to build on its momentum in the 2025 season with an exciting home schedule. The Golden Eagles will host 12 home matches – including the Golden Eagle Invitational presented by Holiday Inn – along with crucial Ohio Valley Conference games as Tech strives to win the league championship. “There is so much excitement attached to this season,” said head coach Jeannette Phillips. “I feel like I say that every year, because this time of year is so full of possibilities, but this year we have so many new pieces full of talent in our gym. How can I not be full of anticipation?” With a lot of exciting new faces on the squad joining talented and experienced returners, the veteran coach is embracing the team’s future.

COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Following a successful 24-8 season last year, the Tennessee Tech women's volleyball team aims to build on its momentum in the 2025 season with an exciting home schedule. The Golden Eagles will host 12 home matches – including the Golden Eagle Invitational presented by Holiday Inn – along with crucial Ohio Valley Conference games as Tech strives to win the league championship.
"There is so much excitement attached to this season," said head coach Jeannette Phillips. "I feel like I say that every year, because this time of year is so full of possibilities, but this year we have so many new pieces full of talent in our gym. How can I not be full of anticipation?"
With a lot of exciting new faces on the squad joining talented and experienced returners, the veteran coach is embracing the team's future.
"We will have a new view, a new feel and a new make-up on the court and the sidelines," Phillips said. "A lot is changing within Tennessee Tech Athletics and I am here for it. You can't do things you haven't done before by going about things in the same way, so bring on the change and let's set our sights higher than we ever have before."
Tech opens up the season on August 20 with a matinee at Middle Tennessee, then travels to Clarksville on August 29 and 30 for the Austin Peay Tournament, taking on Xavier and former OVC foes Murray State and the host Governors.
The Golden Eagles open September with a trip down to Birmingham to compete in the UAB Tournament on Sept. 5-6, facing North Alabama, the host Blazers and USC Upstate. After Tech hosts Radford, Samford and Wichita State in its home tournament on Sept. 11-13, the Golden Eagles head northward to the Green Bay Tournament, facing Northern Iowa, Green Bay and Western Michigan between Sept. 18-20.
OVC play opens up on Sept. 25-26 as the Golden Eagles start the league slate on the road at Western Illinois. Home conference play then begins on Oct. 2-3 and 10-11 as Tech hosts last season's regular-season OVC champ Southeast Missouri and Tennessee State in consecutive weekends.
After a two-match set at Morehead State on Oct. 16-17, Tech hosts three straight home matches with UT Martin on Oct. 23-24 – with Senior Day on the 24th – and Southern Indiana on Oct. 28. The Golden Eagles will have a Halloween night match at SIUE, then opening up November with the Cougars on the 1st.
The road trip continues with a Nov. 5 trip to Evansville to take on the Screaming Eagles, then concludes the five-match road trip with a pair at Little Rock on Nov. 13-14. Tech closes out the home portion of the schedule with two matches against Eastern Illinois on Nov. 18-19.
The OVC tournament will be held Nov. 23-25 at the regular-season champion's home venue.
"Our hope as a coaching staff is that our players will play light and let it fly like Golden Eagles should," Phillips said. "Join us by having some fun this Fall! Wings Up!"
All Tech volleyball matches at the Hooper Eblen Center are free admission.
