Golden Eagles fourth after first two rounds of F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women’s golf team put itself in position for another top-five finish to start the season, finishing the first day of action at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate in fourth place among nine teams competing at Clarksville Country Club.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team put itself in position for another top-five finish to start the season, finishing the first day of action at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate in fourth place among nine teams competing at Clarksville Country Club.
On Monday, the Golden Eagles posted scores of 309 and 304 to finish with a 613. The purple and gold sat just seven shots back of third-place Western Carolina and 10 strokes behind host Austin Peay for second place. IUPUI led the way with a 599, behind the individual leader, Amelei Svejda, and her 144.
For Tech, it was sophomore Heidi Lawson who paced the lineup over the first two rounds. The youngster carded a 1-over 73 over the first 18 holes and followed it up with a 75 to shoot 148. Her 4-over showing ranked her fourth among the 50 competitors.
Next among the Golden Eagle participants was freshman Katrine Toennessen. The Grimstad, Norway native sat in a tie for 10th overall after showing great improvement from round one to two. She posted a 153 after shaving seven shots off her first-round 80 to post a 73 in the second.
Junior Hannah Bratton (pictured above) tied for 12th behind scores of 75 and 79. She ranked just a stroke behind her teammate, coming in with a 154.
Making her collegiate debut, Gittle Sciolis turned in an 81 for her first round of play. The freshman trimmed off four shots her second time around the course, posting a 158 to rank in a tie for 19th. Rounding out the Tech lineup, junior Kate Mashburn captured an 83-91=174.
Also taking part in her first career action was freshman Elisabeth Toennessen, a native of Grimstad, Norway like her twin sister Katrine. The rookie carded a 78 in first-ever round, making her just the second international player in program history to play for the Golden Eagles. She followed it up with an 81 to tie for 22nd with a 159.
The third and final round of action will commence at 8:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start at Clarksville Country Club.
