Golden Eagles improve in round two of Kiawah Island Classic
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women’s golf team showed great improvement during round two of the Kiawah Island Classic Monday afternoon, jumping up a pair of spots while competing in the largest collegiate golf tournament in the nation.

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team showed great improvement during round two of the Kiawah Island Classic Monday afternoon, jumping up a pair of spots while competing in the largest collegiate golf tournament in the nation.
The Golden Eagles slashed 11 strokes from their day performance, posting a 308 to tie for 38th among the massive field of 53 teams with Indiana State with a total of 627. Soaring to the top of the leaderboard on day two was Boston University, turning in a 286 for a total of 575.
Shining the brightest for the purple and gold during round two was sophomore Heidi Lawson. The Kodak, Tenn. native fired off four birdies on her way to a 1-under 71 and a two-round score of 152. She rocketed up the leaderboard to tie for 80th among the 264 golfers in the field.
Next among the Golden Eagle participants, junior Hannah Bratton posted a 78 to go along with a first-round 77 for a 155 overall. She tied for 115th overall. Fellow upperclassmen, senior Arianna Clemmer, also turned in a 78, wrapping up play for the day with a 158 overall to tie for 151st.
Freshman Katrine Toennessen matched her Sunday total of 81 with another such round on Monday, tying for 200th with a 162. Rounding out the Tech lineup was junior Isabel York, who shot an 88 for a 173.
Taking over the individual lead for the event with a 69 in round two to sit at 4-under with a 140 was IUPUI's Amelie Svejda.
The third and final round of the Kiawah Island Classic for the Golden Eagles will take place at the Oak Point Course starting at 7:30 a.m. CT Tuesday morning.
