Tech women's golf team fourth after first day of MSU Greenbrier Invitational
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women’s golf team completed its first two rounds of the 2019-20 season Monday afternoon, sitting in fourth place at the MSU Greenbrier Invitational hosted by Morehead State in Lexington, Ky.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Tennessee Tech women's golf team completed its first two rounds of the 2019-20 season Monday afternoon, sitting in fourth place at the MSU Greenbrier Invitational hosted by Morehead State in Lexington, Ky.
The Golden Eagles ranked fourth among the nine participating teams, posting scores of 314 and 307 to sit just seven shots back of second place.
Sophomore Heidi Lawson paced the purple and gold with a slick, first-round 72, followed by a 75 in the second round. Her 147 total for the day ranked her fourth in the field of 54. Tying for 13th was junior Hannah Bratton, who carded a 79-76=155.
Next among the Golden Eagle participants was a 158 turned in by junior Kate Mashburn. The veteran captured rounds of 82 and 76 to finish the day in a tie for 22nd overall.
Making her collegiate debut as the first international golfer to play for the Golden Eagle program, Katrine Toennessen finished with a 161. The native of Grimstad, Norway, who joined her twin sister Elisabeth as the first international signees in program history, shot and 81 and an 80 on the day.
Junior Isabel York rounded out the Tech competitors with rounds of 87 and 85 for a 172.
Leading the event after the first day of play at Greenbrier Country Club was Lipscomb, whose 606 was backed by the top-ranked individual Emily Keeling's 144.
The Golden Eagles will wrap up play in their first event of the year Tuesday with a shotgun start set for 8:15 a.m. CT.
