COOKEVILLE, Tenn. –First-year coach Daniel Brizard has announced the schedule for the 2011 spring season, which is comprised of seven games in total, including one tournament at the University of Tennessee, three of which will be played in Cookeville on Tech’s home turf.
The schedule will kick off on Saturday, March 19 with a trip to Middle Tennessee to take on regular season rivals MTSU and Belmont, at times that are yet to be determined.
Following the opening road trip will be a two game home stand. The Golden Eagles will take on Lipscomb on Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m., and Lincoln Memorial one week later on April 2 at 1 p.m.
UT will host their spring tournament on April 9, in which Tech is scheduled to play East Tennessee at 12 p.m. and Tusculum at 4 p.m.
The team will finish out the spring season with one final home rematch against the Commodores of Vanderbilt on April 16 at 2 p.m.
“I feel that our spring schedule is very competitive and will give us the best opportunity to not only compete, but to also evaluate our player’s progress going into the fall,” Coach Brizard said. “We've worked hard as a team and staff this off-season to prepare mentally and physically for our games this spring.
“We feel every team on our spring schedule is the type of team that we need to compete with to be contenders in the OVC this coming regular season.”
